Steve Biko was an anti-apartheid activist and founder of the South African student movement, after which he led the Black Consciousness Movement. He also founded the black community in 1972. Biko was arrested numerous times for her anti-apartheid work, and on September 12, 1977, he died of injuries sustained while in police custody.
