Author
He was a Norwich man, the son of Thomas Phaer of that place, a family probably of Flemish descent. Educated at Oxford and Lincoln's Inn. When he was appointed a representative of the Council of Marriages, he settled in Kilgerran, Pembrokeshire, where he spent the rest of his life. He is asleep and is buried in Kilgerran church. He is married to Anne, daughter of Thomas Walter, of Carmarthen. He was a writer of legal works, and, turning to medical studies, he published the English version of Regimen Sanitatis Salerni. He is best known, however, for his translation of Virgil's 'Aeneid,' of which he completed nine and a half books.
