It doesn’t matter how many times you have failed, you only have to be right once.

“I like to spend time in the past, with the things that have been important to me.”

Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.

“tone of colour in a room or a morning sky, a particular perfume that you had once loved and that brings subtle memories with it, a line from a forgotten poem that you had come across again, a cadence from a piece of music that you had ceased to play— I tell you, Dorian, that it is on things like these that our lives depend.”

“What is done is done. What is past is past."

“You may fancy yourself safe and think yourself strong. But a chance tone of color in a room or a morning sky, a particular perfume that you had once loved and that brings subtle memories with it, a line from a forgotten poem that you had come across again, a cadence from a piece of music that you had ceased to play. I tell you Dorian, that it is on things like these that our lives depend.”

“There are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely-or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in its hypocrisy demands.”

“I like men who have a future and women who have a past.”

I used to tease Joe Louis by reminding him that I was the greatest of all time. But Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight fighter ever.

Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.

People don't always remember what you say or even what you do, but they always remember how you make them feel.

While I know myself as a creation of God, I am also obligated to realize and remember that everyone else and everything else are also God's creation.

Grow angry slowly – there’s plenty of time.

Remember, you can always stoop and pick up nothing.

I suppose that’s one of the ironies of life – doing the wrong thing at the right moment.

One of my favorite moments is onstage, when you see a dancer leap, and you think they're flying, and then they fall. It's that moment of suspension that you look for, and sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't.

“The difficulty, after having the experience to symbolize, lies only in having enough imagination to suspend it in a thought; and further to give this thought such verbal expression that others may be able to decipher it, and to be stirred by it as by a wind of suggestion sweeping the whole forest of their memories.”

“The root of oppression is the loss of memory.”

“Each others' lives are our best textbooks.”
