“All religions and spiritual traditions begin with the cry "Help!”

“Religion is a monumental chapter in the history of human egotism.”

“Where can we go to find God if we cannot see Him in our own hearts and in every living being.”

“The only religion that ought to be taught is the religion of fearlessness. Either in this world or in the world of religion, it is true that fear is the sure cause of degradation and sin. It is fear that brings misery, fear that brings death, fear that breeds evil. And what causes fear? Ignorance of our own nature.”

“The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves.”

“There are many things that are essential to arriving at true peace of mind, and one of the most important is faith, which cannot be acquired without prayer.”

Do you want to do something beautiful for God? There is a person who needs you. This is your chance

The Lord likes small things best, especially those done with love

Jesus said love one another. He didn’t say love the whole world.

I try to give to the poor people for love what the rich could get for money. No, I wouldn’t touch a leper for a thousand pounds; yet I willingly cure him for the love of God

Jesus said love one another. He didn’t say love the whole world

I know I am touching the living body of Christ in the broken bodies of the hungry and the suffering.

“People are afraid of themselves, nowadays. They have forgotten the highest of all duties, the duty that one owes to one's self. Of course, they are charitable. They feed the hungry and clothe the beggar. But their own souls starve, and are naked. Courage has gone out of our race. Perhaps we never really had it. The terror of society, which is the basis of morals, the terror of God, which is the secret of religion—these are the two things that govern us. And yet—”

“I worshipped you too much. I am punished for it. You worshipped yourself too much. We are both punished.”

“The terror of society, which is the basis of morals, the terror of God, which is the secret of religion-these are the two things that govern us.”

“There was purification in punishment. Not 'Forgive us our sins,' but 'Smite us for our iniquities' should be the prayer of a man to a most just God.”

In the matter of religion, people eagerly fasten their eyes on the difference between their own creed and yours; whilst the charm of the study is in finding the agreements and identities in all the religions of humanity.

Terrorists are not following Islam. Killing people and blowing up people and dropping bombs in places and all this is not the way to spread the word of Islam. So people realize now that all Muslims are not terrorists.

I believe in the religion of Islam. I believe in Allah and peace.

Public opinion, I am sorry to say, will bear a great deal of nonsense. There is scarcely any absurdity so gross, whether in religion, politics, science or manners, which it will not bear.

I thank God that I've lived long enough to see what I have seen, and I pray that people will continue to do better. We are doing better, it may not seem so, but there was a time when people were lynched in the middle of the street and it was not against the law. We are doing better, but we have so much more to do.

Religion is to do right. It is to love, it is to serve, it is to think, it is to be humble.

I like the silent church before the service begins, better than any preaching.
