“We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent.” 

I think some people would love to be able to make the clothes I make - and of course, I do influence them, but they keep simplifying, and minimalism doesn't quite work.

“It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it.”

Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way.

Keep feeling the need for being first. But I want you to be the first in love. I want you to be the first in moral excellence. I want you to be the first in generosity.

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.

Perfect friendship is the friendship of men who are good, and alike in excellence; for these wish well alike to each other qua good, and they are good in themselves

Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny.

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Appreciation is an excellent thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us, as well.
