“Give me just one generation of youth, and I'll transform the whole world.”

When I first saw a picture of the crucifixion, I lost respect for my parents. I suddenly realised that this is what the adult world is like - full of cruelty and hypocrisy.

I was still interested in the youth rebellion but never-the-less I stopped being a victim. Stopped trying to attack the establishment realizing that it takes too much of your energy.

“Age is a very high price to pay for maturity.”

“Youth is the only thing worth having. When I find that I am growing old, I shall kill myself.”

“If I could get back my youth, I'd do anything in the world except get up early, take exercise or be respectable.”

“I wish you would tell me your secret. To get back my youth I would do anything in the world, except take exercise, get up early, or be respectable.”

“But youth smiles without any reason. It is one of its chiefest charms.”

“Ah! realize your youth while you have it. Don’t squander the gold of your days, listening to the tedious, trying to improve the hopeless failure, or giving away your life to the ignorant, the common, and the vulgar. These are the sickly aims, the false ideals, of our age. Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing.”

“To get back my youth I would do anything in the world, except take exercise, get up early, or be respectable.”

Until recently each generation found it more expedient to plead guilty to the charge of being young and ignorant, easier to take the punishment meted out by the older generation (which had itself confessed to the same crime short years before). The command to grow up at once was more bearable than the faceless horror of wavering purpose, which was youth.

“Scepticism is the chastity of the intellect, and it is shameful to surrender it too soon or to the first comer: there is nobility in preserving it coolly and proudly through long youth, until at last, in the ripeness of instinct and discretion, it can be safely exchanged for fidelity and happiness.”

No greater injury can be done to any youth than to let him feel that because he belongs to this or that race he will be advanced in life regardless of his own merits or efforts.

Good habits formed at youth make all the difference.

I have remained a simple fellow who asks nothing of the world; only my youth is gone – the enchanting youth that forever walks on air.

I sometimes ask myself how it came about that I was the one to develop the theory of relativity. The reason, I think, is that a normal adult never stops to think about problems of space and time. These are things which he has thought about as a child.

It is crucial that young people are taught sustainable child production and rearing.

Given how few young people actually read the newspaper, it's a good thing they'll be reading a newspaper on a screen.
