Best known as the ‘spiritual father of Pakistan’, Sir Muhammad Iqbal was a well-known poet, philosopher, political lawyer, and politician of Lahore, British India. As a result of his great work in Urdu and Persian Literature, he was nicknamed the ‘Oriental Poet’. Iqbal co-authored the ‘T Nation Nation Theory’ which eventually led to the division of India and Pakistan. He was a prominent member of the All-India Muslim Leauge, and his famous speech at the Allahabad conference was widely regarded as the moment when the construction of Pakistan began. Together with Jinnah, he led the goals of establishing the Pakistan Movement. Some of his outstanding works include Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, Payam-e-Mashriq, Zabur-e-Ajam and Javed Nama. He was also the author of the popular Indian song ‘Saare Jahan se Achha’. Iqbal was crowned king by King George V in 1922, who gave him the nickname ‘Sir’.
