Fulke Greville (1554-1628) is one of the most remarkable figures in Warwickhire since the years of Shakespeare. An increasing author of romantic sonnets, he also experimented with new genres of literature, including biography; philosophical poems relating to honor, sovereignty, and war; and drama in Islamic settings. Under Queen Elizabeth was a famous prince, working closely with Sir Philip Sidney and Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester; and later under James I was an important governor, acting as Treasurer of the Navy and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
