Novelist
Evelyn Underhill was a prolific writer who published 39 books and more than 350 articles and reviews. In her later years, she wrote in philosophy; in his last years in the spiritual life of ordinary people. This last work is more accessible than the original writing. Perhaps the best introduction to him is this book, edited by Charles Williams, which provides an introduction to her main ideas, her approach, and her great sense of humanity and accessibility. The Living Life, with its BBC radio version, originally presented orally, is a clear and concise introduction to his thinking. Most of Evelyn Underhill's final editions have been published, and many are still being written. An amazing anthology of his work is Delroy Oberg's Evelyn Underhill: A Daily Reading of Modern Mystic.
Her first major work in removing mystery includes Mysticism: A Study in the Nature and Development of Man's Consciousness and Practical Practices.
