Amelia Earhart, better known as "Lady Lindy," was an American pilot who disappeared mysteriously in 1937 while trying to circumnavigate the globe. Earhart was the 16th woman to be granted a pilot's license. She owned several notable flights, including becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in 1928, and the first person to fly in the Atlantic and Pacific. Earhart was officially pronounced dead in 1939.
