Sister Corita Kent (1918-1986) is celebrated with her silk paintings depicting poverty, racism, war, and social justice. My Roman Catholic sister, artist and teacher, Kent converted the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary to the Immaculate Heart College at LMAA. became a politically active community to promote peace and humanity throughout the 1960s and 70s. In 1980, she became a full-time artist in Boston, MA, and did work that promoted social change all that was left of her career.
