He was born September 11, 1913, in Moro Bottom, Arkansas, Bear Bryant starred at the end of the University of Alabama football team. After successful training in Maryland, Kentucky and Texas A&M, he won six world championships over 25 years with Alabama, and retired with a record 323 in 1982. Bryant died in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on January 26, 1983 - one month after training his last game.
