Theologian and Christian missionary Billy Graham preached in the L.A. and was a guest on Stuart Hamblen's radio station in 1949. Public exposure led to Graham becoming a star and began spreading his sermons around the world. Although producers criticized Graham for having too much freedom, one Time journalist dubbed him the "Protestant World Pope." Graham retired in 2005 and later died at his North Carolina home on February 21, 2018, at the age of 99.
