Edmund Hillary was born on July 20, 1919, in Auckland, New Zealand, and climbed a mountain. In 1953, he and Tibetan passenger Tenzing Norgay were the first to arrive at the Mount Everest convention. Hillary later took part in the trek to the South Pole and was one of the first to reach the summit of Mount Herschel. He also developed the resources of the Nepalese people. She died on January 11, 2008.
