His Excellency, Dr. Ambassador, Professor, Joseph S. Spence, Sr., USA (Epulaeryu Master), is a professional military veteran, worldwide award-winning poet, prolific author, a spirited man of God, dynamic speaker, diligent researcher, and inspirational book reviewer of over 50 books posted in professional pedagogy mediums. He is the author of over one hundred peer-reviewed published poetic articles and ten inspirational poetry book. Four of his books are as follows:
1. His first book, "A Trilogy of Poetry, Prose, and Thoughts for the Mind, Body, and Soul" (2004) and was a community bestseller.
2. His second book, "Trilogy Moments for the Mind, Body, and Soul" (2006), won the Best Christian Poetry Award.
3. Third, "The Awakened One Poetics" (2009), won 2nd place, Critters Writers Workshop Best Author's Pool, and publisher's bestseller.
4. Hs 10th poetry book, "Sincerely Speaking Spiritually" was launched in February 2020.
He served as the poetry Chaplain, and a co-founder for the Worldwide Poetry Alliance, UK. The following five co-published books were published during his tenure with the Worldwide Poetry Alliance:
1. "The Magic of Michael Jackson" (2011).
2. "Passionate Patriotic Poetry for 9/11" (2010).
3. "Celebrating in Poetry: The 20th Century, 100 Years of Music" (2010).
4. "Patriotic Poetry to Support the Troops" (2009), and
5. "Practical Poetic Anthology: Styles, Forms, & Peganted Portrayals" (2009).
One hundred percent of the royalties from these five books were donated to charity, to help first responders in the terrorist's aircraft attacks on the World Trade Center, NYC, the Pentagon, Washington, DC, and on America soil for medical care from 9/11.
He also co-published "The World's Biggest Poetry Anthology: Songs of Peace," with the League of Poets, Nigeria Africa in 2020.
He graduated from the University of Maryland Global Campus, College Park, Maryland (Business and Management), and Howard University ROTC officer's commissioning program (Military Science). He received the Distinguished Military Graduate and Daughters of American Revolution Awards from Howard University ROTC program.
He completed a degree in divinity at night while in the U. S. Army, and was installed as a Eucharist Lay Minister by the Sufferance Bishop of the Armed Force, The Right Reverend Charles Burgreen, after completing a prescribed course of study to be a Eucharist Minister offered by the military. Thereafter, he assisted protestant military chaplains worldwide during his military career, as an additional duty to his primary role, as a commander. He served twenty-six years of dedicated, faithful, courageous, and honorable service as an officer in the U. S. Army, and retired as a decorated field grade officer.
He studied English literary science, creative writing, the African Diaspora, Japanese linguistics, and poetry at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM), after retiring from the army. He created the following poetry forms and styles while at UWM:
1. "Epulaeryu."
2. "God's Dynamic Steps."
3. "Seventh Heaven."
4. "Linking Pin Sonnet."
He created Epulaeryu poetry form based on his worldwide travels and sampling a variety of dishes while fellowshipping with worldwide humanity. The "Linking Pin Sonnet," was created at UWM, after studying twenty different sonnet forms from twenty different poets worldwide. He currently serves as a tutor to poets worldwide to achieve their publication goals.
During his studies at UWM, he has been published globally in various forums. Some are: Journals, Magazines, Anthologies, Ezines, Online, U. S. Army, Newspapers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Alpha Phi Alpha International Fraternity, Inc. Sphinx Magazine, and other publication mediums. He also served as an associate editor for the Furrow student's literary magazine at UWM.
He was inducted into various international scholastic honor societies, such as Golden Key International Honour Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Phi Theta Phi International Honor Society, and others based on his studiousness.
He previously served as Scribe and Chaplain for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Chi Lambda, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Sphinx Magazine.
He has conducted a variety of poetry seminars, workshops, and recitals worldwide. His poems are published in: Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, African Yoruba, Japanese, Polish, French, Scottish Gaelic, India's: Hindi, Assamese, Oriya, and Bengali, Jamaican Patois/Patwa and Rastafarian languages.
