Anyone who's a parent dreads that call in the middle of the night. I have four grown children and I still dread it.

All parents are concerned about their children's well-being. As a parent of three kids, I'm very concerned about their well-being.

My parents told me that children were taken from their families in 1941, and my mother had a child taken from her - with the goal of saving him.

It's sad that children cannot know their parents when they were younger; when they were loving, courting, and being nice to one another. By the time children are old enough to observe, the romance has all too often faded or gone underground.

So much is asked of parents, and so little is given.

Parents teach in the toughest school in the world - The School for Making People. You are the board of education, the principal, the classroom teacher, and the janitor ...

I've had many nicknames over the years: V, Nessa, Nessy Poo, Nessy Bear and Van. Only my parents call me Van, though, and I hate it. I get embarrassed.

It's the best thing going, parenthood.

My parents are awesome, but they're pretty left-wing.

I've got no dark secrets, I wasn't beaten up, my parents were kind to me and there was a low crime rate where we lived. Maybe that's where the comedy comes from, as some sort of reaction to the safe, boring suburbs.

Our parents are obviously proud, but they're still trying to get used to the fact that we're in a band. I have a feeling my mom would actually like One Direction if I wasn't in it!

There is no school equal to a decent home and no teacher equal to a virtuous parent.

God blessed me with two unbelievable parents, and I am just like both of them. I have the smile and charisma of my mother and the big heart of my mom, because she wants to save the world and help the world, so I am just like her.

My parents were of the generation who thought they were the children of a free Czechoslovakia, the only democracy in central Europe.

I believe that my parents did wonderful things for us.

Because of my parents' love of democracy, we came to America after being driven twice from our home in Czechoslovakia - first by Hitler and then by Stalin.

This is a mThis is a moment that I deeply wish my parents could have lived to share. My father would have enjoyed what you have so generously said of me-and my mother would have believed it.oment that I deeply wish my parents could have lived to share. The best situation is being a single parent. The best part about is that you get time off, too, because the kids are with their mom, so it's the best of both worlds. There's a lot to be said for it.

I used to live with my grandmother. I used to wonder why the other kids in school went home with their mothers and fathers. I wanted to be the guy that got married. I wanted to be the guy with the children and the white picket fence. I never had that.

"Since the child knew his parents would give in, he tried the same trick again and again."

"I was happy to be with my parents. I didn't see very much of them, so I was very happy when my father was there and out of jail."

"It was a little weird. My parents and everybody is here, so I'm glad I pitched well or I'd be in a bad mood right now."

"The parents gave you this body and fostered the intelligence and love that are embedded in it; so, gratitude is their due."
