Fear is pain arising from the anticipation of evil.

"Once men are caught up in an event, they cease to be afraid. Only the unknown frightens men."

So, if you think only of yourself, only your own happiness, the result is actually less happiness. You get more anxiety, more fear.

If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.

Every single being, even those who are hostile to us, is just as afraid of suffering as we are, and seeks happiness in the same way we do. Every person has the same right as we do to be happy and not to suffer. So let's take care of others wholeheartedly, of both our friends and our enemies. This is the basis for true compassion.

If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.

The more you are motivated by love, the more fearless and free your action will be.

Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.

The more you are motivated by Love, The more Fearless & Free your action will be.

The more honest you are, the more open, the less fear you will have, because there's no anxiety about being exposed or revealed to others.

Love didn't grow very well in a place where there was only fear

I salute the man who is going through life always helpful, knowing no fear, and to whom aggressiveness and resentment are alien.

I do not ask how the wounded person feels. I myself become the wounded.

How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he sometimes thinks he senses it.

One of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with its painful crudity and hopeless dreariness, from the fetters of one’s own ever-shifting desires. A finely tempered nature longs to escape from the personal life into the world of objective perception and thought.

The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there’s no risk of accident for someone who’s dead.

Is it not a lack of real affection that scares me away again and again from marriage. Is it a fear of the comfortable life, or nice furniture, of dishonor that I burden myself with, or even the fear of becoming a contented bourgeois?

As long as the people don't fear the truth, there is hope. For once they fear it, the one who tells it doesn't stand a chance. And today, truth is still beautiful... but so frightening.

As you know from school, it's when you have not prepared for the test that you have the fear of failing. And if you have prepared, even if you fail, you've done your best.

In my work and in myself I reflect black people, women and men, as I reflect others. One day even the most self-protective ones will look into the mirror I provide and not be afraid.

What the mind doesn't understand, it worships or fears.

I think we have to own the fears that we have of each other, and then, in some practical way, some daily way, figure out how to see people differently than the way we were brought up to.
