Sillabe Di Seta. Ediz. Italiana E Inglese
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) was born and died in Amherst (Massachusetts), where she lived in her father's large house, the Homestead, in voluntary confinement since 1866. The "case" Emily Dickinson exploded in 1890, with the publication of a small volume of poems which was an extraordinary success. It is an assertive, lucid, hard poem by Emily Dickinson, which disturbs and enchants the reader. And it is an out of the ordinary character, that of Emily Dickinson, who chose a life of solitude and isolation, did not want to leave a public trace of herself and kept her poems hidden in the bedroom dresser, from where they were recovered only after her death. He was a rebellious and determined spirit, capable of deciding at the age of thirty to dress only in white and to shut himself up at home, for life. Very little is known about her as a person, but her verses speak for her, enigmatic, thin, which arouse amazement and curiosity, admiration and disquiet. Omnivorous reader, thirsty for knowledge, austere and sensual at the same time, skilled in combining culture with a rich and complex sensitivity and with a clear intelligence, Emily Dickinson gives us a very modern poem, she never ceases to awaken questions and attention in readers.
