Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Set your heart on doing good. Do it over and over again, and you will be filled with joy.

It is in the nature of things that joy arises in a person free from remorse.

Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves.

Sorrow prepares you for joy. It violently sweeps everything out of your house, so that new joy can find space to enter. It shakes the yellow leaves from the bough of your heart, so that fresh, green leaves can grow in their place.

If you love someone, you are always joined with them – in joy, in absence, in solitude, in strife.

Joy lives concealed in grief.

When you feel a peaceful joy, that’s when you are near truth.

Oh! Joy for he who has escaped from this world of perfumes and color! For beyond these colors and these perfumes, these are other colors in the heart and the soul.

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.

Be full of sorrow, that you may become hill of joy; weep, that you may break into laughter.

Why should I be unhappy? Every parcel of my being is in full bloom.

My head is bursting with the joy of the unknown. My heart is expanding a thousand fold.

This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor… Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

The soul is here for its own joy.

Patience is the key to joy.

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.

We seek happiness in external things without realizing that they don’t help when we have problems within. We need to focus instead on the joy that comes with peace of mind that allows us to remain happy whatever happens.

Never regard your study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn the liberating beauty of the intellect for your own personal joy and for the profit of the community to which your later work will belong.

Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.
