I will never do another TV series. It couldn't top I Love Lucy, and I'd be foolish to try. In this business, you have to know when to get off.

The reason I'm in this business, I assume all performers are -- it's Look at me, Ma! It's acceptance, you know -- Look at me, Ma, look at me, Ma, look at me, Ma. And if your mother watches, you'll show off till you're exhausted; but if your mother goes, Ptshew!

An employee is told that the customer is always right and, in fact, the customer is usually a moron and as asshole

I would rather die than have my fans see me without a pair of heels on. And that's show business.

Your culture is the brand. Your employees are the brand. Your core values and guiding principles are the brand. You are the brand.

I guess the simplest definition of the culture is what happens when the manager leaves the room.

What’s really important in this fast-moving business world that we live in is: How are you contributing to communities right now? Are you blogging? Are you sharing meaningful content? Are you part of consortiums? Are you speaking at events?

Don’t find customers for your products, find your products for your customers…

Talented employees stay because they are: 1. paid well 2. mentored 3. Challenged 4. Promoted 5. Involved in decisions 6. Appreciated.

I grew up in east Tennessee, and everybody knew everybody's business.

“You aren't battling your ability to stick to a diet, execute a business plan, repair a broken marriage and rebuild your life, hit your goals, or win over a bad manager- you are battling your feelings about doing it. You are more than capable of doing the work to change anything for the better, despite how you feel. Feelings are merely suggestions, ones you can ignore. To change you must do the same, you must ignore how you feel, and just do it anyway.”

If 'Party of Five' hadn't done well, it would have been a bunch of names involved in the demise. But if 'Time of Your Life' doesn't do well, it will be my name. You have to prepare for the worst. This is a very fickle business.

I was told to avoid the business all together because of the rejection. People would say to me, 'Don't you want to have a normal job and a normal family?' I guess that would be good advice for some people, but I wanted to act.

"I spend 90% of my time with people who don't report to me, which also allows for serendipity, since I'm walking around the office all the time. You don't have to schedule serendipity. It just happens."

"As CEO, my main job is editor-in-chief."

"Living like this is a full-time business."

"In his particular line of business, peace had reigned for nearly a year. And peace was killing him."

"At the end of drama school, I made a contract with myself: I'd try acting for five years. I was 26. I had already spent eight years working in restaurants and gas stations. So I had seen enough small businesses to understand that that's what acting is: a small business."

"It's none of their business that you have to learn how to write. Let them think you were born that way."

"The Port of New Orleans alone imports 250,000 tons of coffee every year."

"If revenue growth does not start to pick up that would squeeze profit margins."

"Some people start modeling because they want to be models and they want the parties and the recognition, and then there are people like me. I come from a simple family, and for me getting into modeling was a chance to make money and create a business."

"Our goal is very simply to become the desktop for e-businesses."

"The one thing we know today is we can't continue to do business the way we have in the past."
